Her dreams have been lazing at her elbows, small white elephants and green giraffes, grazing from invisible trees. They move aside, harrumphing at her as the paper interrupts their breakfast.
Sure, most life on the planet has been obliterated, but really, is that any more ridiculous and unpleasant a situation than the way things were before?
Whether or not I believe in magic is surely beside the point. . . .
