As you may have seen, The Omnivore has instituted an award for Hatchet Job of the Year: "It aims to raise the profile of professional critics and to promote honesty and wit in literary journalism." I'm not entirely convinced this is the most useful way of going about that, but the shortlist is, at least, fun to read through. No reviews of sf novels, though; any suggestions for what should have been included? (See also: our review today, of Michael J. Sullivan's Theft of Swords by Liz Bourke.)
