As you may have seen, The Omnivore has instituted an award for Hatchet Job of the Year: "It aims to raise the profile of professional critics and to promote honesty and wit in literary journalism." I'm not entirely convinced this is the most useful way of going about that, but the shortlist is, at least, fun to read through.
