I absolutely loved this story! It was stylish, clever, and sneakily moving. I nearly cried at the ending. I'm so glad I got the chance to read it here.

Ms. Coates certainly has a clear way of telling a story; never once did her words interfere with the flow she established. I can't help but wonder, though, if the speculative element was tacked on as an afterthought and if the usage of a zepplin wasn't a failed artifact from Lake's All Star anthology.
I didn't get to the same place that the rest of these folks did, but then, no story will strike the same bells for every reader.
A solid, well-constructed effort that felt entirely safe and was ultimately forgettable.

Excellent. The fore-seeing sneaks up, but never seems completely illogical. It feels logical from the POV, as if it could be rationalized into science. Bittersweet. Hell, dunno what exactly, only that I really enjoyed it.

I loved this story for a few reasons, mostly what people have already been saying on this board. It's clear, it's clever, it's cute, and by the end, it's touching.
I wonder if this is a clue: "Nora knows that this conversation will eventually inspire Sara to write a series of short stories dealing with the domestic lives of scientists, played out against the background of historic events. Characters will lose what they want most in all the world and science will not help them win it back." Will we get more? And was this story touched off by someone Ms. Coates knows?
