Strong story.
I read it as a parable of the occupation of Iraq. Not quite sure if the author meant it that way.

Great story. It's really interesting to scrutinise your instinctive reactions to various events and attitudes throughout, as so many of them are rooted in ingrained gender bias. An unsurprisingly excellent piece from Kameron (and an excellent choice to follow last week's /Minty Bags a Squidboy/).

"The Women Of Our Occupation" is the type of short story that I can't shake off -- it mystifies and enlightens at the same time, and allows for several interpretations.
I enjoyed the story very much, and look forward to more stories from Kameron Hurley.
