I enjoyed this story quite a bit.
Elegant, with a magic-ness that wasn't overdone.
I did think some of the descriptions could have been
just a bit more fleshed out. If this were visual art
I would say it was like looking at a charcoal drawing
with too few, but bold and well placed lines that
hinted at a larger scene I couldn't completely
visualize, but liked all the same.
Well done though and keep up the good work.

Ah, that was lovely, had that mystical and descriptive yet understated effect that I really appreciate in both stories and art. I'm pretty sure that Jacob was Odin - the raven named Memory convinced me (what happened to Thought?) - but I'm not sure who the Conductor might have been. Surtr is my best guess.
Assuming I'm not completely off my mark, I really like mythology used subtlely and this inspired me. Thank you.
