A lot of these stories that put twists on the traditional are predictable or boring. This one was predictable after a while... but still quite good. Watching the Dark Lord come to love and trust (or whatever passes for it) his sons was quite delightful. I hope he enjoys his retirement. :)

Neat story! It's quite a traditional form, but beautifully done. I loved the little world-building touches... the wood-whimsies and the magma reactors and the barrier leviathans. And Mogrash himself.

Nicely done. Somewhat predictable, as others mentioned, but still well written, with all the ends tied up.
