Strange Horizons Gallery Presents...

Avi Das

For as long as I can remember, the visual narrative has driven me. I'm talking about comics here! I used to devour them as a kid and continue to do so now -- whenever I get my hands on them, that is! Phantom, Archies, The Justice League of America, Marvel Comics, Richie Rich, Mad -- the list is endless!

A self-taught artist, living in India, I meandered into the realm of digital art six years back. I'm an independent film maker/animator who loves tinkering around with various software trying to bring the myriad images in my mind to realization. I like to create an image which conveys a story and is caught at a crucial juncture of the narrative. Guess it comes from a strong passion for story-telling!

I have drawn inspiration from George Lucas, Spielberg and Walt Disney. Being an animation and special effects buff, and having always been attracted towards the fantastic, I have decided to pursue the field of sci-fi/fantasy illustration seriously. I recently received my first commission to illustrate the cover of Future Orbits. My illustrations have also appeared on the cover of Renderosity magazine. I now seek an illustrator's representative to help me peddle my wares in the US!

Inject direct / the petroleum of salvation
Don’t know why they bob? In blue death boxes?
Wendy knew it wouldn’t be long now before her daughter was taken. She had put the idea from her mind as long as she could, but now Jane was days away from turning thirteen.
Strange Horizons stands with immigrants in the US facing these conditions.
