Strange Horizons is looking to add an additional Social Media Editor and a Patreon/Fundraising Editor to our editorial collective. These roles will entail working in tandem with our existing Social Media Editor, Isana Skeete, our Fundraising Editor, Josh Kidd, and our management team.
Social Media Editor
Our social media editors’ brief involves managing and expanding the zine’s social media presence, and (potentially) reviving the Strange Horizons newsletter. Beyond this, our editorial collective is flat and anarchic, and beyond this basic brief, you will be free to define and understand your role as you see fit. If you love Strange Horizons, genre magazines, and getting SFF out to a broader audience, then you’re who we are looking for!
We anticipate the time commitment to be a couple of hours a week, which will rise slightly during our annual fund-drive in the month of June. The position, like the rest of our editorial positions, is volunteer.

Patreon/Fundraising Editor
We are also looking for an editor who will be dedicated to restructuring, rationalizing, and taking charge of the Strange Horizons Patreon account, and working directly alongside our Fundraising Editor, Josh Kidd. This involves: (a) taking charge of running the Strange Horizons Patreon Account; (b) creating a regular cadence and plan for donor stewardship, recognition, and thank-yous; and (c) planning and executing any other projects that contribute to the long-term financial sustainability of the magazine (with the Administrative Editor, Romie Stott). In keeping with the magazine’s flat structure, the Patreon/Fundraising Editor will have the freedom to pursue these goals in the manner that they deem best.
You will be joining an organization that already has success in these areas; it is largely because we have such a rich and varied network of donors that we’d like an editor who is able to focus on keeping the environment welcoming and responsive—an editor who is able to advocate, able to make sure we fulfill the promises we make to our community of supporters.
We expect the workload to be a few hours a month for the Patreon account, and potentially some additional responsibilities once a year in the week leading up to the fund drive Kickstarter launch, and the week encompassing the last few days of the Kickstarter fund drive (and the first few days after it).
