"Pressure" is Jeff Carlson's second story for Strange Horizons. His other short fiction credits include sales to Artemis Magazine, Fantastic Stories, Space and Time, and Tales of the Unanticipated. He is also a scriptwriter. One of his screenplays has been optioned, and he's currently eyebrow-deep in a television project for Hoffman Netter Entertainment. Across the train tracks from BWI station, a portal shimmered in the shade of a patch of tall trees.
