Consider

    the intermittent chant

                         of lunar eclipses:

These are the satellites

              in decaying orbits

A bestiary of all those

           who came here before us

Asteroids mathematically

              on track for impact

The names of the gods

           who chose to ignore us

A list of the starships

              decelerating toward us
