he is alone

on a midnight prairie

muttering to the air

his curious mirror

balanced on a

crude cart of wood

ridge of clouds

in summer flight

from the Hunter's Moon

its captured light

in the tilted mirror

strange

gravitational pull

the rabbit

a tumbling moon

in doppelganger descent

fused to the mirror's glare

the bald moon

retreats

eclipsed by clouds

the creak of wheels

dissolving in bracken

mirror slowly dimming

in the distance
