Dear Writers:

Due to the high volume of fiction submissions we received during our November 2021 open call, we are taking longer than average to review all of the stories. Rest assured we are doing everything we can to work our way through each of your stories with care and attention. Though we try to respond to all fiction submissions within 90 days, that is not the case currently with the state of the world and impacts on our staff. Our goal is to finish reading through all submissions by May 2022 at the latest. If you have any questions, please send an email with a subject line of “QUERY: Your Question Topic” to fiction@strangehorizons.com.

We will respond to every submission whether it's an acceptance or a rejection. Given the news, you may also withdraw your story if you do not want to wait. But please note, a withdrawn story cannot be submitted again for consideration during another open period.

Also note, we continue to be open to submissions for our Southeast Asian special issue.

As always, thank you for sharing your work with us and for your patience!

Jadwiga is the city. Her body dissolves in the walls, her consciousness seeps into the cracks, her memory merges with the memories of buildings.
Jadwiga a város. Teste felszívódik a falakban, tudata behálózza a repedéseket, emlékezete összekeveredik az épületek emlékezetével.
Aqui jaz a rainha, gigante e imóvel, cada um de seus seis braços caídos e abertos, curvados, tomados de leves espasmos, como se esquecesse de que não estava mais viva.

Here lies the queen, giant and still, each of her six arms sprawled, open, curved, twitching like she forgot she no longer breathed.
